Cute! Jay-Z explains who he is to a woman on the subway.

Great tips for travelling abroad with kids.

I heard an interview with Stevee from Cinematic Paradox on the radio the other day, so I headed over to check out her blog. I recommend you do too, even if it's just to read her hilarious & award winning rating system. So fetch!

Game of Thrones playing cards! Christmas is sorted! You're welcome. (via Dooce)

I want Luxirare to make me a packed lunch every day.

Joy the Baker has some pretty great recommendations of people to follow on instagram.

10 Essential Songs For The 20-Something Girl. (via Coley Tangerina) "It’s time for you to just get all Lilith Fair, sit back with your oversized boyfriend jeans and a cup of tea, and think about life for a little bit. You’re becoming a real woman now, and with that comes a certain reflection on all that is going on around you. And you are a lot of things — you’re powerful, you’re strong, and you have a lot of thoughts about philosophy and religion."

Sarah from Yes and Yes tells you how to get what you want. It's really, really simple.

Fit and Feminist kicks off her "completely unscientific, totally subjective, not-at-all comprehensive list of 100 female athletes who I think deserve to be considered among the fittest women of all time" with the pioneers. There are some pretty amazing Wilder Women featured here. Read for inspiration.

My Top Five Movie Wedding Dresses

1. Julie Andrews as Maria in The Sound of Music

I love a dress with sleeves, the neckline is beautiful, the simplicity is perfect, & the cathedral length veil looked stunning as Maria walked down the aisle to a choir of nuns. And let's not forget that she was marrying gorgeous Georg.

2. Clemence Posey as Fleur Delacourt in Harry Potter & the Deathly Hallows

A wedding dress with Peacocks on it. Perfection!

3. Sarah Jessica Parker as Carrie Bradshaw in Sex and the City

Okay, so I know this wasn't the dress that Carrie got married in, but god it was splendid! The blue bird on the side of the head, the perfect make-up, the veil...everything came together beautifully here. Special shout out to the equally stunning bridesmaids' dresses ~

4.  Jennifer Lopez as Mary Fiore in The Wedding Planner

I remember very little about this movie. I remember that Mark Ruffalo was cute but seemed slightly retarded. I remember Olivia Newton-John's 'I Honestly Love You' was mentioned at some point. And I remember loving this dress (sleeves!). I also remember seeing this at the cinema with my parents and my mother telling me I looked like J Lo. Bahahahahahaha! Perhaps she was talking about my sizeable derriere.

5. Meryl Streep as Karen Blixen in Out of Africa

I don't even know where to start with this wedding outfit. So unique. So perfect.

Wilder World of Books ~ Albania

A Simple Path ~ Mother Teresa

On my Life List I wrote 'Read a book from/about every country in the world'. It doesn't matter if I've already read a book from or about that country; for the sake of this list I'm starting from scratch.

Rather than being about or set in Albania, I chose a book by/about the most famous Albanian, Mother Teresa. This book starts off with a brief auto/biography of Mother Teresa, goes into her work with the poor in India, & includes thoughts from many of the people who staff the various Missionaries of Charity throughout the world.

Here's the deal - I've been an atheist for as long as I can remember, but I grew up in a Catholic family, so I had to go to church every Sunday until I was about 16, & I went to Catholic schools. But still all I knew about Mother Teresa was that she was a Nun in India. After reading this I now have a pretty deep respect for her & the Missionaries of Charity. They live in complete poverty & have dedicated their lives to helping others. There is a strong focus on prayer in their work, & a complete selflessness. One thing that really stood out for me was that in the home for the dying in India, the first thing patients are asked when they arrive is what religion they are. This way they know to bury them according to their faith. If the patient is too sick to say what religion they are, then they are buried according to Hindu traditions as those are the most widely held beliefs in the area. I appreciate that there is no agenda to convert, only to care.

Before I read this I had no idea where Albania was located (other than somewhere in Europe).

And check out how cool their flag is ~

~ Toilets that don't flush properly.

~ The sound of paint scrapers. Ugh, just thinking about it sends shivers down my spine.

~ Medicine bottles with child-proof caps.

~ When you go to add hot sauce to your meal and it comes out of the bottle way faster than you expected.

What made your lists this week?

I've heard Will Smith's comments on his daughter's hair, now Jada Pinkett-Smith chimes in beautifully. (via Blue Milk)

This six year old is way more on to it than I ever was about the gender imbalance in Guess Who? I just never chose to be a woman when playing, I never thought to address the makers of the game about the obvious bent.

Brains Got Gme: The Amazing Minds of Freestyle Rappers. (via Blue Milk)

Your argument is invalid. 31 arguments against gay marriage (and why they're all wrong). (via Sarah-Rose)

The Vampire Diary - a 25 year old man's account of a marathon Twilight viewing. (via The Lady Garden) "I get that they're in love, and everything happening between 18-year-olds is the most important thing that will ever happen to anyone, but they can never seem to just chill. It doesn't seem healthy."

I heard an interview with Caitlin Moran on the radio earlier this year, & at the time I thought she sounded pretty cool. So I reserved her book How to Be a Woman at the library, & prepared to add a new Wilder Woman hero to the list. I was expecting to LOVE this book and this woman, & then...I didn't. This is a pretty accurate review of what I didn't like. (also via The Lady Garden)

Bahahahahaha! The Hater's Guide To The Williams-Sonoma Catalog. (via Yes and Yes) "Everything about that sales copy just blew my skull. There are trappist monks in the Ozarks? Do they brew artisanal meth?"

Another day, another Chris Brown drama. "Chris Brown continues to face backlash because he continues to remind us that he is an asshole. He continues to get in trouble. He continues to display violent behavior. All that is his right but he doesn’t get to do it with impunity."

I'm in the new Wellington International Ukulele Orchestra video!!! Well, I'm in the audience at Melbourne's Federation Square, but still pretty cool ~
