Wilder & Tamer
Wilder
~ Cadbury Honeycomb & Chocolate ice-cream. This will be served in my heaven.
~ Apa takes Kowhai for a walk in the front pack most nights when he gets home from work. It is so lovely for me to get a few things done around the house or just relax after a day of baby duties and prepare for the evening of feeding her.
~ Staying at my parents' house. Electric blankets, good heaters, getting my tv fix, having a bath with Kowhai.
~ I went to the launch of a book I helped do some research on, & found out the book has already sold out in Australia & New Zealand.
Tamer
~ Wedding websites/blogs full of engagement photo shoots. The engagement photo shoot thing is a phenomenon I just don't get it.

A Wilder Shade of Nail
They All Hate Us has been giving me some amazing dark nail inspiration lately. Such a good winter look, don't you think?

This piece on The Hand Mirror pretty much sums up how I feel about the Scott Guy murder trial. I also felt uncomfortable about The Dominion Post describing the nation as being 'mesmerised' by the case.
Ten bets you will never lose (via Yes and Yes). I know a couple of people who will love trying to figure some of these tricks out.
How to get a fresh start on a bad day (also via Yes and Yes). I need to print this out & keep it handy.
I housesat for my parents last weekend & was lucky enough to see an episode of Vivienne Westwood's London while getting my television fix. My favourite part was when Westwood was discussing the merits of live music versus CDs with the conductor of the London Symphony Orchestra & said "It's like the difference between watching porn & actually doing it."
Flamingo! (via Mama Likes This)
I want to dance with the whole world! (via Morgue)

My First Crushes
1 ~ Hawkeye & Trapper
The hilarity, the booze, the Hawaiian shirts, the sensitivity, the pranks, the anarchy.
2 ~ River Phoenix in Stand By Me
A tanned bad boy in a tight white t-shirt.
3 ~ Christopher Plummer as Captain Georg von Trapp
The uniform made all the difference. I would've answered to that whistle & folk danced over the mountains with the Captain.
4 ~ Uncle Jesse
Even 8 year old girls called bullshit on the saccharine spewfest that was Full House. But we put up with DJ's hair, Stephanie's lisp & Michelle's bratty behaviour for an occassional glimpse of Rock & Roller Uncle Jesse.
5 ~ Macgyver
Macgyver was one of those rare shows that my whole family enjoyed. Even my Ma was drawn to Richard Dean Anderson's mulletted glory.

~ The generosity of my parents.
~ Motivation to do lots of crafting & creating.
~ Entering competitions.
Tamer
~ Pam's strawberry cheesecake. Ew! Yuck! Don't even go there. Spend the extra few bucks & get a real cheesecake.

Sarah from Yes and Yes is one of my favourite bloggers. This post is a prime demonstration of her awesomeness.
This is pretty much one of the best letters ever written. Hilarious!
I think people who spend big money on kids' clothes are dicks. That being said, if I won lotto there would certainly be a pair of these Opening Ceremony boots (as featured on Mama Likes This) in Kowhai's future.
This wedding is pretty much perfection to me. I wish I had a great backyard so we could replicate it.
This wedding is also lovely. (I'm getting married in February so you'll have to forgive me if I link to an abundance of wedding posts.)
Hillcrest High School in Hamilton celebrated Paul McCartney's 70th birthday this week with concerts & lessons themed around the Beatle.

Five Things That I Miss
1 ~ Chelsea Buns from The Friendly Bakery on Cuba Mall.
2 ~ My sister, cousins & friends who are not in the same city as me. Yep, ALL of them.
3 ~ My 21 year old body.
4 ~ Helen Clark as Prime Minister. Sure, she wasn't perfect, but at least I had some respect for her.
5 ~ Being able to sleep through the night/pop out to run an errand quickly/go to a movie in the evening & all those other things you take for granted before having a baby.

WILDER

Here's some stuff of interest I've discovered recently ~
~ I really, really like this piece from Blue Milk about adolescent sexuality.
~ As someone who still has fond memories of D'Angelo's naked music vid, this article is an interesting read. I don't agree with everything it says necessarily. And I think a big point that they've failed to mention is the fact that the video in question seemed to me a vehicle in which D'Angelo was deliberately objectifying himself. In contrast Erykah Badu gets completely naked in her Window Seat video, yet there is nothing sexual about it. She is not saying "Look at my hot body, y'all!"
~ Speaking of which, apparently Wayne Coyne of The Flaming Lips saw Window Seat & thought Badu would be just the right woman to get her kit off in a music vid for him. Here's a taste of what went down.
~ Conflict Kitchen is a take-out restaurant that only serves cuisine from countries with which the United States is in conflict. I have no words for how awesome this is. And the food looks delicious.
~ Teardrop Campers! Can you say adorable? The salmon pink below is pretty much my dream vacation now.
~ When it comes to 90s pop culture Agent Lover is boss. Here's her breakdown of Poison Ivy. Brill!
~ The Kahu Ora | Living Cloaks exhibit at Te Papa is pretty amazing. I highly recommend.
~ Also worth checking out in Wellington right now - the All Woman exhibit at The New Zealand Portrait Gallery. If you go on a Wednesday you'll also get a lunchtime lecture.
~ A Wilder Woman I discovered at the above exhibition = Kathrine Switzer. She was the first woman to run the Boston Marathon as a numbered entry, in 1967. Check out the pics below of a race official trying to physically remove her from the race before being sent flying by her boyfriend.
~ Some people are just too amazing for words.
~ How amazing does Queen Michelle of Kingdom of Style look in these pics? I love every single thing about the outfit. Major girl crush going on here.
